 CANYONEERING ~ SALOME JUG
|
 |
| |
 FULL DAY. ~ .SIX MILES. ~ .SPLISH! SPLASH!
This fabulous adventure brings us just north of Roosevelt lake in central Arizona {approximately 2+ hours by car from the Phoenix area}
and begins with a 2 mile downhill hike along an old jeep road to the mouth of Salome Canyon. The canyon runs for approximately 1 mile
and navigation includes scrambling, wading, swimming, sliding, and a short, 25 ft. rappel.
Couples may opt to be married anywhere along the route. The return 2+ mile hike completes this
phenominally memorable day.
Why not begin your married life with a splash ?!?
The best times of year for canyoneering at Salome Jug are summer months, when temperatures are over 100 degrees and swimming is most refreshing.
Please be advised that traveling through slot canyons and along exposed routes always involves some risk and weather conditions should be
carefully monitored at all times. In years when there is considerable spring run-off from the mountains, increased water volume and speed holds
additional risk as well, especially at the rappel ledge. Caution is always advised.
This adventure requires specialized equipment {rope, webbing, harnesses, drybags} and some preparation & planning but no permits or reservations.
Suggested party size is 6-15 people and trip times range from 5-7 hours car to car depending on group size. Backcountry experience is suggested and
rappelling experience is mandatory for all participants. For more information, please visit
